THE KINDER WAY TO GROW
For Ethical Brands & Creatives
There’s a massive shift coming in the marketing industry, I’m sure you feel it. Maybe it’s the millennial in me, but I’d call it a revolution.
Thanks to the world-wide-web, historically marginalized groups have a voice and they’re not afraid to use it. It’s time we start listening. People are having real conversations about neglected and broken social systems. One of the social issues that has been at the forefront of our generation is the way brands communicate with their audience.
Our younger generations are insanely perceptive, intuitive, and aware of traditional marketing tactics. After seeing over 5,000 ads per day for the majority of our life, we can spot clickbait, tokenism, false advertising, spam, and inauthenticity from a mile away. People are no longer satisfied with brands doing the bare minimum and staying neutral in the face of crisis. Opportunistic and tone-deaf campaigns just don’t fly anymore. People are demanding that brands they engage with be transparent, accountable, and socially conscious.
Maybe you feel a bit intimidated by all of this? I mean it’s hard not to when Cancel Culture is ready to come for you faster than you can say “We’d like to issue our sincerest apologies.” But this movement is not about policing, political correctness, or shame. It’s about humanity. People just want to connect with brands that are doing their best not to make this crazy world worse.
As creatives, we have the power to influence thought, opinion, and behavior. It is our responsibility not to take advantage of that power, but to use it to improve our communities and give a voice to the voiceless.
Socially conscious or “woke” (gross, I hate that term) marketing doesn’t have to be difficult. My philosophy is simple: Be real. Be kind. Build community.
Ethical Digital Marketing Specialist
I'm Marissa, the face behind CGC! I'm an ethical digital marketing specialist, freelance content writer, and jack-of-all-trades creative. Through my comprehensive experience working with PR & marketing teams in agencies, in-house departments, and remote positions, I’ve found that partnership & collaboration are the key to creating stellar web content that generates tangible growth.
I founded CGC to help brands build authentic connections with their audiences through ethical digital marketing strategies. I specialize in content marketing, social media management, brand strategy, and public relations techniques that are both socially conscious & effective.
I’ve worked directly with clients in the health & wellness, food & restaurant, travel & hospitality, cannabis & hemp, non-profit, beauty & fashion, home & lifestyle, arts & entertainment, and business industries. I also help social media, public relations, and marketing agencies create quality, on-brand digital content for their clients. They always say you should find your niche, but as a true Enneagram 7, I refuse to be confined! I enjoy creating content for a wide variety of brands across different industries because it offers endless learning opportunities and lets me develop new relationships with people from all walks of life.
Instead of having an industry niche, I have a client niche. I work with ethical brands and creatives that are seeking ways to make their marketing strategy more socially conscious, transparent, and inclusive.

"Marissa started out as an intern with my company (an influencer marketing consulting group) and has transitioned into freelance work over time. She is particularly skilled at project management, communication and handling ambiguity in her role. Marissa readily owns projects rather than tasks and will eagerly dive in to learn just about anything from how to start a podcast to planning influencer events. I highly recommend Marissa for your professional PR and marketing needs."
